My dad told us bedtime stories. Sometimes he read them, but most times he just told them from memory (and made up the parts he had forgotten). It was more exciting than when he read them. We preferred a "dad story" over a book any night, because they were personal and more memorable. We all have personal stories. We all experience life differently, and therefore we approach our faith in Christ differently. But our personal stories can relate to others who share similar life experiences.
This Christmas there is one story that should be told more than any other -- "YOUR Jesus story." It's one thing to read Luke 1 & 2 and remember the details of Christ's birth. It's another thing to tell how Jesus' story has changed your life. "YOUR Jesus story" is more personal, and it's the one people need to hear. It communicates that Christmas is not a commemoration of an historical event -- it is a celebration of our real and personal Savior who has made us a part of his story. The angel appearing to the shepherds had "good news of great joy that will be for all the people", and we have the same. Spread some Joy to the World -- tell your Jesus story.
Merry Christmas!
